🔍 DEFINITION

A “no-show” occurs when you fail to appear for your scheduled Pearson VUE exam without having officially rescheduled or cancelled your appointment. This applies to both in-person test centers and online (OnVUE) exams.

📋 WHAT HAPPENS

When you don’t show up, Pearson VUE’s testing system automatically marks you as a “no-show”. You will need to register for the exam again and pay the exam fee once more.

⏰ 0-15 MINUTES LATE

If you arrive within 15 minutes of your scheduled appointment time, the test center administrator MAY still be able to seat you. You will follow normal check-in procedures. However, this is at the test center’s discretion and may not always be possible.

❌ MORE THAN 15 MINUTES LATE

If you arrive more than 15 minutes late, the test administrator may deny you entry. In most cases, you will be marked as a no-show and forfeit your exam fee entirely.

💰 YOU FORFEIT YOUR FEE

If you miss your exam without rescheduling or cancelling within the required time frame, your exam fee is forfeited. This means:

• No refund is given
• Your voucher (if used) is lost and cannot be used again
• You must pay the full fee again to rebook
• The no-show counts as an exam attempt for most certification programs

💳 VOUCHER POLICY

Pearson VUE vouchers have strict terms:

• Vouchers are non-refundable and non-returnable
• If you no-show, your voucher is forfeited
• Vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash or credit
• Voucher expiration dates cannot be extended
• The voucher code cannot be used again after a no-show

📅 BY EXAM PROVIDER

CompTIA, Cisco, AWS: You can reschedule up to the exam start time / during check-in.

Microsoft: Must reschedule at least 24 hours before exam. Less than 24 hours = forfeited fee.

PMI: Rescheduling may require a fee.

NIGP-CPP: Must cancel with more than 24 hours’ notice.

📋 WHAT TO DO

• Log in to your Pearson VUE account
• Navigate to your exam appointment
• Click “Reschedule” (not Cancel)
• Choose a new date and time
• Save your confirmation email
• Set a reminder for your new exam date

💻 TECHNICAL FAILURES

If you cannot start your exam due to technical issues (e.g., the OnVUE application won’t load, internet failure, webcam not detected), you should:

• Contact Pearson VUE support immediately
• Explain the situation with details (time of exam, error messages, screenshots)
• They may review your case and reinstate or reschedule your appointment

📋 IMPORTANT

Technical issues are reviewed case by case. There is no guarantee that Pearson VUE will reschedule your exam for free. However, if the issue is clearly on their side (server failure, software bug), you have a much better chance of recovery.

🆘 EMERGENCY SITUATIONS

Some exam programs allow for medical or family emergency exceptions. For example, NIGP-CPP allows requests for review if a medical or family emergency occurs within 24 hours of the exam.

Requirements:
• Documentation must be provided (doctor’s note, etc.)
• Request must be made within a specific timeframe (often 7-14 days)
• Approval is not guaranteed – each case is reviewed individually

🌧️ WEATHER EMERGENCIES

If severe weather or a natural disaster officially closes the test center, you will be notified and can reschedule at no cost. However, if the test center remains open and you decide not to attend due to weather, your fee is forfeited.
